How can a landlord rent someones property for a month and 5 days?
The landlord can ask you to move but he has to give you 30 days notice to move in most areas (laws differ depending on where the rental unit is). No written rental agreement falls under the state month-to-month rules. Look those up for your state and city. If the landlord wants to get you out sooner his would have to file an eviction with the courts. Most states have a law that spells out reasons for immediate eviction. Usually, it's for drug distribution, manufacturing, or other serious crimes. Are his rules outrageous? Or stuff like you cant make loud noises in the middle of the night. You cant store stuff in the common hallway. No smoking inside, etc
